AVG has developed a range of valves for solar applications and in collaboration with the solar hot water industry has developed a high temperature non return valve. As solar hot water heaters are becoming more efficient and the stagnation temperatures within the solar collector panels is increasing, damage to pipework and other components is becoming an issue. The HTCV is a high temperature non return valve designed to prevent the back flow of high temperature hot water. The NVHT would typically be installed approx. 500mm above the solar circulator pump, please check with manufactures installation requirements for your system.

The NVHT-15F-15C has a DR brass body with RP 1/2" Female X 15mm compression end connections to comply with the requirements of the Australian standards. The body which houses a high temperature non return valve assembly is capable of withstanding temperatures up to 250°C. As solar hot water heaters are becoming more efficient the stagnation temperatures within the solar collector panels are becoming an issue with modern plumbing systems. High temperature non return valves need to be installed to prevent heated water from the solar collector panel from damaging plastic water pipes, pumps, valves and other components installed within the plumbing system. The NVHT-15F-15C is suitable for any situation where the plumbing installation calls for a non return function. The valve can be installed in any orientation.

This valve is suitable for pumped solar flow and return lines to prevent back flow.
The valve can also be installed to prevent back flow and damage to the plastic cold water pipework, the HTCV can be installed into the incoming mains supply line to a storage hot water heater.

The plastic component inside the old one way valve was showing signs of degrading from prolonged heat exposure so I ordered this 250oC rated valve.
Other than adapting output from female to male it looks great

I chose this to replace the failed & poorly designed valve originally supplied by Rinnai for their Sunmaster system. This NRV valve appears well made and robust and has my solar system up and working again for a fraction of what Rinnai quoted for their replacement valve.

After almost having a heart attack after getting my latest electricity bill, I noticed that my Off Peak KW usage was almost as much as my general tariff, and I have Solar Hot Water! Split Solar Systems work well as heat exchangers at night if the non-return valve fails or is non-existent. The return line from the collectors should be cold at night, not scalding hot. Put one of these in the return line and they work a treat as they withstand high temperature. Arrow with normal flow.
