Overview
SOLAR PUMP 15-20 CIL2 with pump unions gives you a pump ready to install on your solar hot water system. The 15-20 CIL is optimised for domestic Open Loop solar systems both in terms of performance and choice of materials. For instance, the pump is able to resist a higher level of chloride than normal pumps.
The 15-20 CIL2 can be used as a replacement pump* for all open-loop solar systems, both flat plate & evacuated tube types from all major manufacturers. We have listed the major manufacturers below to eliminate some of the guesswork as there are hundreds of systems and models.
If the manufactures require a set flow rate we have solar rated flow meter 15mm 1-2.5L/min or flow meter 15mm 3-8L/min, it's also a good idea to replace the non-return valve with a SOLAR Rated non-return valve. Most manufacturers require the non-return valve to protect the circulating pump.

If the pump is replacement is "like for like" then the existing unions would be used. If you are replacing an existing solar hot water pump please be aware that your plumber should check the installation & function of the high temperature non return valve, this valves omittance and or failure contributes to early pump failure.

Being an electrician where were called to fix a tripping safety switch and to fault find a Grind Connect PV system. Apon inspection the solar hot water pump was the cause to safety switch tripping. Engaged a LIC plumber to quote the H/W pump repair part of job .... he quoted to the replacement pump and although the quote was extremely high customer gave the go ahead... then the drama started Was informed the pump had to come from itlay and would be 3 weeks then 3 turned to 6 and 6 to 9 each time rining my customer and appologising for the delay and feeling like a goose... time finally come delivery day was informed its gonna be another month maybe month and a half. Well that did it I lost it and immediatly searched online and found plumponline. Didnt know a union from a non return value and was in unchartered waters. Rang and spoke to one of the team @ plumb online at 7:30 in the morning, what a shock to have the phone answered at that time. The representative took the time to ask the right questions to ensure what i wanted to buy was going to be the right part first time. Gained a wealth of knowledge (and cash as i installed pump myself and pocketed what the plumber quoted and my consultant fee) Ordered the pump at 8am as instructed by the plumbing online representative and it arrived next business day with non return valve as I was advised to replace. Dream installation pump fitted beautifully one female to female 3/4" adapter required unlike the list of bits the plumber told me we would have to replace. Pumps been chugging away happerly for months no problems .... have reconmended plumbonline to many tradesmen with the same fault. Without plumbonlines expertise I would have been another dumb sparkie with egg on my face waiting for this plumber to stop playing games. Thanks to the staff at plumbonline for stress free material supply and super installation advice. P.S. I know not all plumbers are mung beans like the one I chose so please excuse the plumber bashing in my review. as i did not want to publicly shame that fellow.

so far so good
in 6 yrs i have had 2 vicking pumps fail on my SOLAR POWER hws system.Have just installed a 15-20cil2 ,i week and so far so good,single story unit so plenty of grunt for head.
