Who are Senztek?
Senztek are a New Zealand owned electronics designer and manufacturer. They supply the leading manufacturers with controllers, AAE - Bosch - Edson - Hills - SolarArk to name but a few. Their smart energy controllers including the SolaStat and the new SolaSmart range. Senztek has spent many years developing and perfecting advanced algorithms and associated controllers able to deliver real savings for solar and electric hot water users.
Overview
The Senztek SolaStat PLUS is the latest model of Differential Solar Controller from the New Zealand based manufacturer. The SolaStat PLUS has all the features of the previous models (SolaStat 1-2 and 1-3) but with the addition of a smart "Top-Out" feature and element "Boost". The Smart Top-Out has a two stage control allowing the system to restart solar gain harvesting when the tank temperature drops below the the Set Top Out temperature when the collector is still at stagnation temperatures. Simply put the solar gain harvesting is obtained by a three stage system of control providing your system to collect the maximum solar gain and avoid the onset of collector stagnation not to mention avoiding the loud banging associated with thermal shock. (caused by super heated water) The Boost is a One-Hit" function with a smart re-set when target temperature is reached, element can also be set to meet for operating times minimising the households electricity usage for hot water heating.

Better than I thought
This controller is great out of the box and with the add-on screen is customisable and super easy to install. Great to be able to get real time stats from it as well.

Solar controller a step up
I bought this controller (and the S3 temp sensor) to replace an erratic controller on a 13 year old Endless Solar system. The SenzTek unit is nicely made and the components (like sensor cables and thermistor) are a step up from the original Endless Solar gear. It was was very easy to install. Another bonus is that the Senztek unit shows the temperature being recorded by each sensor, which the Endless unit didn’t. So, a necessary and relatively inexpensive DIY replacement with considerable upgrade in features. Let’s hope it lasts as long as the Endless one did.
